Several Catalan media, such as La Vanguardia and Ara.cat, have covered the results of the research project entitled Pérdidas reproductivas tempranas: del malestar físico y emocional invisible al posible duelo personal, familiar y social (Early Reproductive Losses: from invisible physical and emotional discomfort to possible personal, family and social grief), led by the AFIN group of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), in collaboration with the University of Alicante and the Hospital de Sant Pau. This two-year project aims to make visible the reality of early pregnancy loss, which is often silenced, and to identify the needs for help and support of the women and families who experience it.

Newspaper articles published in Ara.cat and La Vanguardia highlight the lack of care and support for women who suffer miscarriages in the first trimester of pregnancy. Experts such as Elisa Llurba, head of gynecology and obstetrics at the Hospital de Sant Pau, and Diana Marre, anthropologist and director of the AFIN group, were interviewed by these media to present the conclusions of the research.

The results of the project have served to amplify a reality that has been silenced for a long time, and have opened a debate on the need to improve the care of women who suffer early pregnancy loss, including the training of health personnel, the regulation of sick leave, the possibility of registering deceased babies, and the creation of specialized units in hospitals.
