Next Friday, September 6, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the seminar “Challenges in Perinatal Care: Social and Cultural Diversity” will be held at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau, Barcelona. This event is based on the cross-cultural clinical experience and research in France and Europe of Dr. Marie Rose Moro, focusing on immigrant families and their children.

Believing that cultural diversity is a source of creativity and an opportunity for individuals and societies, for parents and children: that is the objective of this seminar, based on experience and research in cross-cultural clinical practice in France and Europe with immigrant families and their children. Thinking about our ways of welcoming migrants and their families or immigrant minors and our ways of helping them to be better mothers and fathers in a cross-cultural situation is a challenge for our multicultural societies. This transcultural approach requires working on our prejudices against others and also modifying our devices in teaching and in the field of health (languages, interpreters, social and cultural aspects, social representations of mental health or the needs of patients). children…). This is necessary for patients, families, citizens and society as a whole: it allows us to heal, resist, have dreams, think, act and be better professionals. We are going to apply this to babies, mothers, fathers and families in immigration situations: how to welcome them and heal them. The seminar is intended for: health professionals (pediatrics, gynecology, obstetrics, midwifery, nursing, mental health, social work) from research centers and member services of the network; teachers, researchers and students of social and health sciences.

The seminar is organized by the AFIN Group and the Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau, within the framework of Work Package 12: “Promoting a personalized and family-centered maternal and infant primary health care: improving shared decision making, gender- sensitive approaches and digital tools” of the RICORS-SAMID network.

The modality of the event will be hybrid, with the public present and remotely via Zoom. For more information and registration, you can follow this link .
